    About Lisa Dyck

I am so glad you are here.

Today is the day you choose you!

Today is the day you choose to set yourself on the path to building the life and relationships that you have always dreamt of.

    Why therapy?

There are times in life when things just seem too difficult to manage:

    • The loss of a job.
    • A life changing diagnosis or the loss of a loved one.
    • Life transitions that bring unforeseen changes and feelings.
    • Old hurts and habits that continue to hold you back.
    • A marriage that has gone from love and passion to pain and distrust.

All the while you are struggling to find yourself, to cope, to rebuild relationships.

To live a life of love and happiness.

I chose to be a Marriage and Family Therapist to help people just like you:

    • Overcome fear and anxiety.
    • Process and grieve loss in a healthy way.
    • Embrace and take charge of the changes that come with life transitions.
    • Uncover, understand, and overcome past hurts and habits.
    • Reconnect with their spouse and rekindle love and passion in a secure connected relationship.

Today you choose to learn to Live, Love and Thrive!

Since 2009, I have been helping people achieve their best lives. I graduated from California Lutheran University with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am licensed in the state of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist and have worked in private practice since 2009.

    Choice through experience

I became a therapist later in life. After the pain of a divorce and being a single mom, I remarried and became a blended family. Because of these experiences, I chose to specialize in women’s issues, pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling and relationship coaching.

    Pre-Marital and Marriage Counseling

When we marry, we marry with hopes and dreams not considering the past that each person brings to the marriage

The struggles in marriage are rarely rooted in the marriage relationship but in the hurts and wounds of our past.

When couples discover and understand how the past has impacted them and their role in relationship, they are free to discover their partner in a different way.

There are always challenges in marriage but with a clearer understanding of ourselves and our partner we have the freedom to embrace those challenges in a loving and productive way.

In couples counseling I use an eclectic approach of Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, The Gottman Model, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness. Relationship assessments are commonly used to assess the current strengths of the relationship and to help identify areas of growth. I tailor your therapy to your relationship. Together we will clarify your goals as a couple and develop the best plan to help you achieve those goals. You will learn to understand one another, accept your differences, rekindle romance and thrive as a couple!

    Women's Issues

Everyone has their own set of unique issues. Some of those issues are rooted in societal definitions and constructs made up of decades of beliefs and assumptions.

Women often find themselves struggling with those societal definitions of what the role of a woman is or should be. Some women feel guilt for wanting to be a stay-at-home mom while others feel guilt for wanting to thrive in a work environment. The roles of woman, wife, mother, and career climber become blurred and confusing, often leading to physical and mental health issues.

If this is you, I want to help you clarify your unique blend of you and help you achieve self-acceptance with the role that you have chosen as a woman.

In working with women on these issues, I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness. Personal assessments are also helpful in helping to identify what makes you uniquely you.

    Relationship Coaching

Relationship coaching is for couples without significant challenges who are looking to proactively strengthen their relationship.

All too often couples walk into my office as the last chance attempt to save a sinking marriage. You do not have to wait for a painful experience or feelings of anger, contempt, and resentment to set in to look for ways to strengthen your relationship.

In relationship coaching, we work with Gottman and Emotionally Focused tools and techniques to help you achieve a loving, connected and secure relationship. Every relationship has its challenges and problems but by understanding our partner and ourselves in a deeper way and knowing what successful couples do, we can learn to be masters at relationship instead of sinking into disaster.
